Executive Functioning Intensive
January 11-12, 2024
10 AM-4 PM
In person on the UES, NYC
We are excited to announce that we will be running a pre-college executive functioning group this January! This intensive, two-day program is designed to set students up for success as they transition to college-level academics. The transition to college and independent living can be a challenge for young adults. Academic demands are high and students are expected to navigate their coursework and balance their lives independently with far less structure than they are used to.
Who is this group for?
This group is ideal for young adults who are about to begin college in the the Spring, or for current college students who would like to strengthen their executive functioning skills as they look ahead to graduate school or occupational goals.
What will we cover?
We will work on planning and time management, study skills, strategies to accomplish long-term assignments, self-regulation, reducing procrastination, routine-building, and self-care and resilience.
Who will be teaching the group?
This group will be co-taught by Drs. Laura Cyran and Anne Josephson. Both have years of experience conducting EF coaching and working as teachers (on different levels). Dr. Josephson worked as a middle school teacher for several years, while Dr. Cyran continues to work as an undergraduate professor.
Additional Information
In addition to the 2-day intensive, we will be providing individualized coaching sessions once the student has arrived on campus to further reinforce the skills and strategies learned in group. We know that maintaining these skills can be tough, and we want to help group members feel confident in their ability to be successful and thrive on campus. Individual coaching can also be added in private sessions as needed.
